Summary: The NDT Technician - Level 2 Ultrasonic Testing (UT) role involves supporting the delivery of high-quality composite components for aircraft through inspection and analysis using Ultrasonic NDT methods. The position requires adherence to safety and quality standards, as well as participation in team activities and continuous training. The technician will operate various ultrasonic test equipment and support improvement activities within the business. Physical capability to perform the role is essential, along with relevant qualifications and experience in NDT methods.
Key Responsibilities:
- Promote a safe workplace environment and adhere to EHS policies.
- Ensure accurate time and attendance clockings and job costings.
- Maintain clean workstations and uphold a clear desk policy.
- Comply with all quality standards, processes, and procedures.
- Support cost reduction initiatives and manage unnecessary expenditure.
- Keep knowledge and training up to date for necessary operations.
- Participate in team meetings and mentor trainees as needed.
- Operate manual, semi-automated, and automated ultrasonic test equipment.
- Perform composite leak tests and record FAI requirements.
- Review, analyze, and clear serial production composite components.
- Prepare NDT procedures and provide support as a Level 2 NDT Engineer.
- Interpret and evaluate process specifications and inspection results.
- Support technical audits and undergo additional training on NDT methods.
Key Skills:
- Qualified in BS EN4179 NDT Level UT in the Ultrasonic Method.
- Proven experience at Level 2 in Ultrasonic NDT.
- HNC in Engineering or relevant subject or equivalent experience.
- Aerospace experience with Level 2 Ultrasonic NDT is desirable.
- Familiarity with other NDT methods and technical audits.
- Knowledge of aviation product technology.
- Understanding of the NADCAP accreditation process.
- Capability to undertake physical activities as required.
