Summary: The role of MPD Field Technicians and Supervisors involves the installation, maintenance, operation, and technical support of Managed Pressure Drilling (MPD) equipment at client field locations. Candidates must have MPD experience and will collaborate with field crews and engineers to ensure efficient operations while adhering to safety protocols. This position requires outdoor work in varying weather conditions and operates on a rotational schedule with 12-hour shifts. Travel to various locations, including camps and offshore sites, is necessary.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Install, maintain, and troubleshoot MPD equipment on client field locations.
  • Monitor day-to-day well drilling operations and ensure equipment is operational.
  • Rig up and operate MPD equipment both onsite and at shop facilities as needed.
  • Prepare and ensure MPD equipment is ready for the job before and after each operation.
  • Service, maintain, and properly store MPD equipment and accessories after each job.
  • Liaise with the field crew, MPD Field Supervisor, and MPD Lead Engineer to ensure smooth operations.
  • Follow MPD program operation parameters and ensure compliance at all times.
  • Complete site-specific and safety-related paperwork as per company policies.
  • Participate in in-house training and maintain up-to-date competency according to company standards.

Key Skills:

  • 3-5 years of oilfield experience.
  • MPD experience in Canada.
  • Advanced knowledge of mechanics and hydraulics.
  • Basic understanding of electronics and control systems.
  • Familiarity with drilling issues, particularly velocity in well cleaning.
  • Knowledge of slinging and lifting overhead loads.
  • Understanding of Piping and Instrumentation Diagrams (P&ID) and Flow Systems.
  • Well control training completion as per client requirements.
  • Familiarity with regulatory codes and safety policies.
  • Competency in Microsoft Office products.
  • Self-directed with strong decision-making capabilities.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills for both technical and non-technical personnel.
