Summary: The Modern Workplace Engineer will provide operational support for the client's modern workplace and end-user computing environment, focusing on M365/O365 technologies. The role requires expertise in Microsoft Intune, including policy configuration and device management, as well as administration of Microsoft Teams and OneDrive. The engineer will also handle advanced diagnostics and root-cause analysis for O365 applications. This position is a hybrid role, requiring three days a week in the office for an initial six-month contract.
Key Responsibilities:
- Act as an SME of Microsoft Intune, managing device enrolment, compliance, configuration, and security policies.
- Provide 3rd line engineering support for O365 applications, performing diagnostics and root-cause analysis.
- Administer Microsoft Teams, including tenant configuration, governance, and policy management.
Key Skills:
- Strong expertise in securing hybrid Microsoft environments using Zero Trust principles.
- Experience in the administration of Microsoft Teams and OneDrive.
- Fundamental understanding of core networking components and their interdependencies.
- PowerShell scripting skills.

Modern Workplace Engineer (Intune / Teams / OneDrive / Entra ID / WHFB / O365 Apps)

The role will predominantly be responsible for the operational support of my clients modern workplace and end user computing environment leveraging M365/O365.
The role will require subject matter expertise of Intune including policy configuration, application deployment, and device management. Additionally, M365 SaaS administration, including elements such as accounts and group management, licenses, and policies. A broad understanding of enterprise networking, end-user device management, unified communications, and 3rd line issue resolution are key.
Responsibilities:
- Act as an SME of Microsoft Intune including device enrolment and compliance, configuration and security policies, application deployment, update and feature management, zero-touch provisioning (AutoPilot and ESP) while ensuring alignment with security, governance, and user experience standards.
- Provide 3rd line engineering support for O365 (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, and OneNote), performing advanced diagnostics and root-cause analysis across client configuration, add-ins, profiles, connectivity, authentication, and service dependencies (SharePoint, OneDrive, Exchange Online) and driving resolution through close integration with endpoint, identity, and platform services.
- Administer Microsoft Teams, including tenant and service configuration, governance and policy management, user and group enablement, collaboration and meeting features and integration dependencies.
Required Skills / Experience:
- Strong expertise in securing hybrid Microsoft environments using Zero Trust principles, including Entra ID, Intune (MDM and Conditional Access), Defender for Endpoint, SSO, MFA and passwordless authentication (Windows Hello for Business).
- Strong experience in the administration of Microsoft Teams and OneDrive.
- Fundamental understanding of Core Networking components and their interdependencies (TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, LAN, WAN, F5, Firewalls, Routers, Switches).
- PowerShell scripting skills.
