Location: Derby or Bristol - 3 days in office / 2 days work from home
Rate
Umbrella: £98 per hour
PAYE: £82.70 per hour
Duration: 12 months with the likelihood of extending
Hours: 37.5 hours per week Monday to Friday
Job Description
Proactive currently have an excellent opportunity for an Electrical Systems Modelling Engineer to work on cutting-edge defence technology, helping to model, simulate and validate the electrical systems that will power future airborne platforms.
Working within a team of simulation experts, the Electrical System Modelling & Simulation Engineer will support the design, integration and validation of complex electrical systems through advanced modelling, simulation and analysis.
This is a highly innovative R&D environment where the Electrical Systems Modelling Engineer will influence future technologies.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop electrical system models and simulations to support system design and architecture decisions.
- Analyse electrical networks, power quality, voltage stability, protection systems and fault behaviour.
- Support electrical system integration activities through modelling and analysis.
- Validate system performance and support hardware and software verification activities.
- Develop modelling methods, simulation approaches and engineering best practice.
- Produce technical reports and communicate findings to engineering and programme stakeholders.
Required Experience
- Experience in a similar role modelling electrical power generation, distribution or control systems.
- Degree in Electrical & Electronic Engineering or similar.
- Strong experience using MATLAB, Simulink and Simscape.
- Ability to make sound engineering assumptions and interpret simulation results effectively.
- Must be Eligible for SC Clearance.
- A solid understanding of: Electrical power systems and networks, Power quality and stability, Fault analysis and protection systems, Power electronics and control systems.
