Summary: The Migration Engineer - Oracle KVM role involves leading the migration of virtual machines from a VMware environment to Oracle KVM physical hosts. This hands-on position requires a focus on execution and ownership of the entire migration life cycle. The role is based in Bradford and is a 3-month contract classified as inside IR35. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience with Oracle KVM and VMware environments.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead the end-to-end migration of workloads from VMware to Oracle KVM physical hosts
- Configure, deploy, and optimise Oracle KVM environments for performance and resilience
- Ensure minimal downtime during migration activities
- Perform testing and validation to guarantee workload integrity and performance
- Implement backup, recovery, and monitoring solutions
- Troubleshoot and resolve migration-related issues in Real Time
- Produce clear documentation covering configuration, processes, and validation
Key Skills:
- Proven hands-on experience with Oracle KVM (deployment, configuration, management)
- Strong background in VMware environments and VM migrations
- Deep understanding of Linux systems in enterprise settings
- Knowledge of physical infrastructure (Servers, storage, networking, performance tuning)
- Demonstrated experience delivering complex migration projects end-to-end
- Strong problem-solving skills and ability to work independently

We are looking for an experienced Oracle KVM Migration Engineer to deliver a critical infrastructure project, migrating virtual machines from a VMware environment to physical hosts running Oracle KVM.
This is a hands-on, delivery-focused role - ideal for someone who thrives on execution and can take full ownership of the migration life cycle from planning through to completion.
