Summary: The Middleware Platform ITSM Lead is responsible for overseeing service delivery infrastructure in collaboration with a managed service partner. This role involves ensuring timely patching, vulnerability remediation, and adherence to QBE standards for middleware and database platforms. The lead will also provide technical guidance, manage performance, and foster relationships with various teams within QBE. The position is hybrid, requiring 1-2 days per week in the office until December 31, 2025.
Key Responsibilities:
- MW/DB estate is patched timely and kept current always
- Plans to remediate EOL timely
- Vulnerability remediation - Critical/Zero day included
- Ensure MW and DB platforms are built as per QBE standards
- Projects related to the platforms are delivered on time and within budget
- Hold managed service provider accountable for their deliveries and ensure that the deliveries are as per the SLAs
- Maintains the security, confidentiality, and integrity of platforms through compliance and within the security framework designed with in QBE
- Provide leadership to the engineering team
- Manage a performance-based culture and work collaboratively with the managed service partner whilst ensuring that the service provide is held accountable for their deliveries
- Coach and mentor the team where required
- Provide technical guidance to the team on the platforms as required
- Find opportunities to improve even if the activity is small
- Look at opportunities to automate the processes
- Has Service focus and problem-solving capability
- Strong verbal and written communication capability
- Develop and maintain relationship with various other QBE teams such as security, Application teams, architecture team, technical assurance team etc
Key Skills:
- Experience with Middleware platforms such as Tomcat, Weblogic, Wildfly, WebSphere
- Knowledge of databases including SQL Server, Cosmos DB, Oracle
- Familiarity with load balancers like Citrix Netscaler
- Understanding of secure file transfer capabilities, specifically Globalscape
- Strong leadership and mentoring skills
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Ability to manage performance-based cultures
- Problem-solving and service-focused mindset
- Experience in working with managed service providers
- Technical guidance and coaching abilities
