Summary: The Middleware Platform ITSM Lead is responsible for overseeing the service delivery infrastructure, ensuring timely patching and compliance of middleware and database platforms. This role involves collaboration with a managed service partner to meet project deadlines and maintain security standards. The lead will also provide technical guidance and foster a performance-based culture within the engineering team. Key responsibilities include vulnerability remediation and maintaining relationships with various QBE teams.
Key Responsibilities:
- Ensure MW/DB estate is patched timely and kept current.
- Plan to remediate EOL timely.
- Manage vulnerability remediation, including critical/zero-day vulnerabilities.
- Ensure MW and DB platforms are built as per QBE standards.
- Deliver projects related to the platforms on time and within budget.
- Hold managed service provider accountable for their deliveries as per SLAs.
- Maintain security, confidentiality, and integrity of platforms through compliance.
- Provide leadership to the engineering team.
- Manage a performance-based culture and collaborate with the managed service partner.
- Coach and mentor the team as required.
- Provide technical guidance to the team on the platforms.
- Identify opportunities for process improvement and automation.
- Develop and maintain relationships with various QBE teams.
Key Skills:
- Service focus and problem-solving capability.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Experience with Middleware platforms such as Tomcat, Weblogic, Wildfly, Websphere.
- Knowledge of databases including SQL Server, Cosmos DB, Oracle.
- Familiarity with load balancers like Citrix Netscaler.
- Experience with secure file transfer capabilities like Globalscape.
- Leadership and mentoring skills.
- Ability to work collaboratively with managed service partners.
Salary (Rate): £400 per day

Job Description
Requirement of a service delivery infrastructure lead, who will be responsible for working with our managed service partner to deliver the following important responsibilities. These are my high-level thoughts and not limited to just these activities :
- MW / DB estate is patched timely and kept current always
- Plans to remediate EOL timely
- Vulnerability remediation - Critical/ Zero day included
- Ensure MW and DB platforms are built as per QBE standards
- Projects related to the platforms are delivered on time and within budget
- Hold managed service provider accountable for their deliveries and ensure that the deliveries are as per the SLAs
- Maintains the security, confidentiality, and integrity of platforms through compliance and within the security framework designed with in QBE
- Provide leadership to the engineering team
- Manage a performance-based culture and work collaboratively with the managed service partner whilst ensuring that the service provide is held accountable for their deliveries
- Coach and mentor the team where required
- Provide technical guidance to the team on the platforms as required
- Find opportunities to improve even if the activity is small
- Look at opportunities to automate the processes
- Has Service focus and problem-solving capability
- Strong verbal and written communication capability
- Develop and maintain relationship with various other QBE teams such as security, Application teams, architecture team, technical assurance team etc
