Summary: The Middleware Platform ITSM Lead will oversee service delivery infrastructure for a major government project in London, requiring in-office presence 1-2 days per week. This role involves collaboration with a managed service partner to ensure timely patching, vulnerability remediation, and adherence to service level agreements. The lead will also provide technical guidance, foster a performance-based culture, and maintain relationships with various teams within the organization. Strong communication and problem-solving skills are essential for success in this position.
Key Responsibilities:
- Ensure MW/DB estate is patched timely and kept current
- Plan to remediate EOL timely
- Manage vulnerability remediation, including critical/zero-day issues
- Ensure MW and DB platforms are built according to QBE standards
- Deliver projects related to the platforms on time and within budget
- Hold managed service provider accountable for their deliveries as per SLAs
- Maintain security, confidentiality, and integrity of platforms
- Provide leadership to the engineering team
- Manage a performance-based culture and collaborate with the managed service partner
- Coach and mentor the team as needed
- Provide technical guidance on platforms
- Identify opportunities for process improvement and automation
- Develop and maintain relationships with various QBE teams
Key Skills:
- Service delivery infrastructure experience
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
- Problem-solving capability
- Leadership and mentoring abilities
- Technical knowledge of Middleware platforms (Tomcat, Weblogic, Wildfly, WebSphere) and databases (SQL Server, Cosmos DB, Oracle)
- Experience with load balancers (Citrix Netscaler) and secure file transfer capabilities (Globalscape)

We are heading up a recruitment drive for a global consultancy that require a Middleware Platform ITSM Lead to join them on a major government project that's based in London once or twice a week.
Requirement of a service delivery infrastructure lead, who will be responsible for working with our managed service partner to deliver the following important responsibilities.
These are my high-level thoughts and not limited to just these activities:
MW/DB estate is patched timely and kept current always
Plans to remediate EOL timely
Vulnerability remediation - Critical/Zero day included
Ensure MW and DB platforms are built as per QBE standards
Projects related to the platforms are delivered on time and within budget
Hold managed service provider accountable for their deliveries and ensure that the deliveries are as per the SLAs
Maintains the security, confidentiality, and integrity of platforms through compliance and within the security framework designed with in QBE
Provide leadership to the engineering team
Manage a performance-based culture and work collaboratively with the managed service partner whilst ensuring that the service provide is held accountable for their deliveries
Coach and mentor the team where required
Provide technical guidance to the team on the platforms as required
Find opportunities to improve even if the activity is small
Look at opportunities to automate the processes
Has Service focus and problem-solving capability
Strong verbal and written communication capability
Develop and maintain relationship with various other QBE teams such as security, Application teams, architecture team, technical assurance team etc
