Overview
Our prominent client is seeking an experienced Microsoft Fabric Data Engineer to join their Data Architecture team.
This is a high-impact, hands-on contract focused on the operation, development, and continuous improvement of a modern Microsoft Fabric data platform. You will work across data engineering, platform development, and DevOps to enhance performance, resilience, and automation.
Key Responsibilities
- Platform Development: Build and optimise Fabric pipelines, Lakehouses, Warehouses, and semantic models.
- Remediation: Implement platform improvements driven by a recent Microsoft Fabric Health Check.
- Data Ops: Support data ingestion, transformation, validation, and integration across diverse internal and external sources.
- Optimisation: Troubleshoot complex pipeline issues, conduct root-cause analysis, and tune performance.
- DevOps & CI/CD: Enhance Git integration and Azure DevOps processes across Dev, Test, and Prod environments.
- Automation: Identify and eliminate manual processes to drive operational efficiency and data quality.
- Documentation: Create robust technical documentation, runbooks, and support procedures.
Skills & Experience Required
- Core Tech: Deep, hands-on expertise with the Microsoft Fabric ecosystem.
- Languages: Advanced proficiency in SQL, Python, and PySpark.
- Fabric Components: Proven experience with Fabric Lakehouse, Warehouse, Pipelines, and semantic models.
- DevOps: Practical knowledge of Git, Azure DevOps, and CI/CD pipelines.
- Data Integration: Experience handling APIs, flat files, databases, and third-party vendor data feeds.
- Governance: Solid understanding of data security, compliance, quality, and reconciliation.
- Soft Skills: Strong communication skills with the ability to bridge the gap between technical and business stakeholders.
