Summary: The Metering Manager will oversee the complete metering lifecycle, ensuring compliance with industry regulations while managing relationships with internal teams and external suppliers. This role requires expertise in Advanced Metering Infrastructure and involves strategic planning, operational management, and compliance oversight. The successful candidate will act as a subject matter expert, providing leadership and guidance to ensure efficient metering operations within the client's UK operations.
Key Responsibilities:
- Act as national Metering and communications subject matter expert within the UK operation.
- Maintain metering requirements and standards for construction projects and maintenance operations.
- Ensure compatibility of requirements with internal processes including commercial, operations, asset management, and legal.
- Provide expert knowledge in Advanced Metering Infrastructure (AIM) and support project teams during design stages.
- Implement and review metering strategy to meet current and future business needs.
- Manage relationships related to metering contracts and develop medium-term maintenance strategies.
- Participate in regional planning for major maintenance operations and establish reporting systems on metering performance.
- Provide metering training programs for engineering and operational teams.
- Review acceptance tests and commissioning of metering systems and equipment.
- Ensure compliance with Heat Network Metering and Billing Regulations and maintain orderly filing of relevant documents.
- Compile metering data for reporting to internal and external parties.
Key Skills:
- Engineering degree or formal Electronics/controls qualification (Degree, HNC/HND or equivalent).
- 5+ years of experience in metering within the utilities sector.
- Experience in network infrastructure, architecture, and administration.
- Incorporated Engineer (IEng) preferred.
- Strong customer orientation and business acumen.
- Ability to translate technical requirements into commercial impact.
- Excellent presentation and communication skills.
- Able to influence key stakeholders effectively.
- Strong understanding of commercial and technical risks.
- Good knowledge of regulatory and legislative requirements.
- Strong knowledge of zero carbon solutions and policy trends.
