Summary: The Employment Mentor role within the Tata Employment Support Team focuses on assisting individuals affected by redundancy from Tata Steel and its supply chain. Grant Funded until 31/03/2026 We are currently looking for an Employment Mentor to join the Tata Employment Support Team. The successful candidate will be responsible for supporting participants who have been made or are being made redundant from Tata Steel, Contractors, or the Supply Chain affected by the Tata Steel Transition. Within the role you will be liaising with Employers, Colleagues, Training Providers, Employability Partners and participants to source and match timely employment and training opportunities for eligible participants enrolled on the programme to support them into sustainable employment.
The main duties of the post:
- To manage the recruitment, retention, training and development of participants, building positive relationships and developing effective processes to identify and overcome barriers as a pathway to employment as set out in the relevant guidance.
- To have individual responsibility for mentoring a caseload of participants, using a positive, enabling and collaborative approach.
- To use a variety of techniques, including effective diagnosis, individual coaching and personal support to maximise the number of programme participants securing and sustaining employment.
- To work with key stakeholders, service delivery partners, statutory and non-statutory organisations in order to promote the support available through the programme and generate referrals.
You will have experience in/of; Experience of working with those that are facing redundancy or have been made redundant. Experience of working to targets and the ability to meet your KPI&©s. Ability to maintain high levels of quality and performance. Working knowledge of recruitment practices and training providers across a variety of sectors., knowledge of local labour market and growth industries.
Ideally you will be; Be educated to Level 4 standard and have substantial experience in working with participants who have a variety of support and training needs to enable them to enter the job market.
