Summary: The Mechanical Project Manager role involves overseeing a £5-10M project package within the commercial sector, focusing on either new builds or fit-outs. The position requires strong management skills to ensure projects are completed on time, within budget, and to high-quality standards. The successful candidate will report to a lead project manager and coordinate with various stakeholders, including subcontractors and clients. This role is with a leading M&E contractor known for its excellent staff retention and development opportunities.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Tender review/validation
  • Design Management (reviewing design liaising with client, main contractor and consultants)
  • Procurement of subcontractors, kit and plant
  • Technical submittals
  • RFIs – Liaison with client team, main contractor and sub contractors
  • Value Engineering where applicable
  • Programming of works – using MS Project or Asta project
  • Health & Safety management (RAMs)
  • Commercial Responsibility, assisting with sub contractor variation accounts working alongside project specific Quantity Survey
  • Management of variations
  • Team Coordination (overseeing junior engineers, construction managers and supervisors)
  • Progress meetings with sub contractors, client and internal meetings
  • Overseeing commissioning stages
  • Formulation of OM Manuals and client handover

Key Skills:

  • Experience working in the commercial sector
  • Experience managing projects to a minimum of £5M within your own discipline
  • A minimum 5 years’ experience in a management role
  • Experience subcontracting to main contractors such as ISg, Lend Lease, Sir Robert McAlpine and Mace
  • Demonstrated longevity in previous employment

Client: My client has established themselves as one of the UK’s premier M&E contractors. Following their formation almost 75 years ago, they have grown their turnover to over £200m per annum. The business boasts an envious track record of delivering some of the UK’s and London’s landmark projects. Typically they specialise in major shell and core projects in sectors such as; commercial offices, healthcare, pharmaceutical and education. Despite their size, this Tier 1 M&E Contractor has fantastic staff retention rates with a reputation for looking after their staff. They offer excellent exposure and internal training schemes with a hands-on approach to developing their staff.

Role: Mechanical Project Manager - London - £400-£500 per day CIS/Ltd Comp

The successful candidate will be responsible for managing a £5-10M package within their own discipline, reporting into a lead project manager. The project will be either a commercial new build or fit out. Key to this role is managing the project at site level; ensuring it is completed on time, to a high quality and within budget.
