Summary: The Mechanical & Process Design Engineer role involves designing bespoke panel systems for chemical analysis in the power and water sectors. The position is based in Stonehouse, Gloucestershire, and operates in a hybrid working environment. The engineer will work within a multi-disciplinary R&D team, focusing on process design, documentation, and continuous improvement. This role is classified as outside of IR35.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Design of panel systems consisting of bespoke instrument and piping arrangements for the measurement of water and other chemicals in the power industry
  • Generation of process GAs, piping isometrics, P&IDs, component specifications, etc. for bespoke and standard panel mounted process solutions
  • Generation of structured BoMs and configuration drawings for configurable products with multiple variants/options
  • Process design review and optimisation
  • Unambiguous specification of manufactured and proprietary parts and assemblies
  • Delivery of technical product documentation including mechanical drawings to BS 8888
  • Participate in Design Failure Mode and Effects Analyses
  • Design validation testing
  • Continuous improvement of self and company processes
  • Adhering to corporate values and standards including health and safety, ethics and integrity
  • Cost effective and unambiguous design specification
  • Eye for detail and passion for getting things right the first time

Key Skills:

  • Process design
  • Proven track record of delivering P&IDs and process system designs
  • Evidence of working within a controlled engineering change process and use of PDM/PLM software
  • Experience in process control and instrumentation selection (desirable)
  • Instrumentation design experience (desirable)
  • Practical experience of SolidWorks, Windchill PLM and SAP (desirable)
  • Practical experience of AutoCAD Plant3D, AutoCAD P&ID, SMAP or similar (desirable)
  • Experience of HAZOPs, cause and effect (desirable)
  • Experience with process design standards like ASME B31.3, ISO13480 (desirable)
