Summary: The Mechanical & Process Design Engineer role involves designing advanced chemical analysis panel systems for the power and water sectors within a collaborative R&D environment. The position requires generating detailed process documentation and specifications while adhering to industry standards and corporate values. The engineer will also participate in design validation testing and continuous improvement initiatives. This is a hybrid role based in Stonehouse, Gloucestershire, with a contract duration of 6 months or more.
Key Responsibilities:
- Design bespoke instrument and piping arrangements for chemical measurement in the power industry.
- Generate process GAs, piping isometrics, P&IDs, and component specifications for panel mounted solutions.
- Create structured BoMs and configuration drawings for configurable products.
- Conduct process design reviews and optimizations.
- Specify manufactured and proprietary parts and assemblies clearly.
- Deliver technical product documentation, including mechanical drawings to BS 8888.
- Participate in Design Failure Mode and Effects Analyses.
- Conduct design validation testing and continuous improvement of processes.
- Adhere to corporate values, health and safety standards, and ethical practices.
- Ensure cost-effective and precise design specifications.
Key Skills:
- Proven experience in process design and delivering P&IDs.
- Familiarity with controlled engineering change processes and PDM/PLM software.
- Experience in process control and instrumentation selection.
- Instrumentation design experience.
- Practical knowledge of SolidWorks, Windchill PLM, and SAP.
- Experience with AutoCAD Plant3D, AutoCAD P&ID, SMAP or similar tools.
- Knowledge of HAZOPs and cause and effect analysis.
- Familiarity with process design standards like ASME B31.3 and ISO13480.
