Summary: The Mechanical Maintenance Engineer role involves providing operational and technical support for static mechanical equipment and systems in offshore assets, primarily in the North Sea Oil & Gas environment. The position requires preparation of maintenance plans, scopes of work, and vendor management, along with ensuring compliance with HSEQ&RC requirements. This is a 12-month PAYE contract based in Aberdeen, Scotland.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide operational and technical support to offshore assets for static mechanical equipment/systems.
- Prepare annual plans and budgets for mechanical maintenance activities and modifications.
- Develop scopes of work, including work packs, materials, and equipment mobilization.
- Review vendor reports for technical content and raise corrective work orders as needed.
- Assist in closing out synergy cases and ORA/HIRA actions.
- Maintain the flexible hose PSV register and plan inspections and recertification campaigns.
- Advise on vendor/subcontractor selection regarding scopes of work and budget.
- Visit operational FPSOs and liaise with offshore management on discipline queries.
- Make cost-effective and safety decisions regarding repair and maintenance of installation equipment.
- Review and optimize maintenance strategies to ensure efficient planned maintenance procedures.
- Participate in inspections, FAT, and offshore surveys as required.
- Ensure effective implementation of HSEQ&RC requirements in all practices.
Key Skills:
- Good technical knowledge and experience in mechanical engineering.
- Experience in the North Sea Oil & Gas operational environment.
- FPSO experience and understanding of class and flag rules.
- Qualified to BEng or HND/HNC level in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent experience.
- Valid survival certificate and offshore medical.

Our client is currently recruiting for the position of Mechanical Maintenance Engineer, based in Aberdeen. This has been released on a 12 month PAYE contract.
Responsibilities:
- Provide operational and technical support to the offshore assets for predominantly static mechanical equipment / systems including but not limited to steam systems, valves, inert gas systems, and HVAC systems etc.
- Preparation and input annual plan and budget for mechanical maintenance activities and modifications
- Prepare scopes of work including, as required, work pack, materials and equipment mobilisation where assigned to own discipline as per approved annual plan.
- Review of vendor and close out reports for technical content and ensure corrective work orders for follow up work is raised including further vendor mobilisations as required.
- Assist in closing out of synergy cases and ORA / HIRA actions as assigned to own discipline
- Custodian of flexible hose PSV register ensuring register is current and aligned with CMMS as well as planning and preparation of inspections, replacement and recertification campaigns.
- Give input and advice in vendor/(sub)contractor selection, with regards to scopes of work, budget and potential issues, barriers or gaps related to own discipline.
- Visit operational FPSO's at regular intervals and liaise with the offshore management on discipline related queries.
- Making cost effective and safety decisions/investigations with regards to the repair, maintenance and modifications of all installation equipment.
- Review and optimise maintenance strategies within own discipline to ensure efficient, effective and cost-effective planned maintenance procedures and routines are in place and ensure CMMS is current.
- Participate in inspections, FAT and offshore surveys as required.
- Ensure effective implementation of HSEQ&RC requirements in specifications, systems, procedures, maintenance routines and in daily practice
Experience & Qualifications:
- Good technical knowledge and experience in mechanical engineering, preferably having previously worked within the North Sea Oil & Gas operational environment.
- FPSO experience desired as well as understanding / appreciation of class and flag rules and requirements.
- Qualified to BEng or HND/HNC level in Relevant Mechanical Engineering discipline or equivalent experience.
- Valid survival certificate and offshore medical (plus any other industry standard pre-requisites to travel offshore).
