Summary: The Mechanical Foreman will lead a small team on a refurbishment project in Lancaster, ensuring the successful installation and maintenance of mechanical and fire safety systems. This role requires extensive experience in delivering mechanical packages on projects valued over £5m, along with strong leadership and technical skills. The foreman will coordinate resources, maintain quality and safety standards, and provide mentorship to junior team members. This is a freelance position with a competitive daily rate.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Liaise with stakeholders and sub-contractors.
  • Oversee mechanical teams and coordinate daily activities.
  • Track site records and deliver consistent project progress reports.
  • Engage in project meetings, sharing technical input and ideas for improvement.
  • Implement HSE regulations through routine safety briefings and inspections.
  • Troubleshoot mechanical faults and apply corrective actions.
  • Maintain accurate daily logs covering project progress and site issues.
  • Allocate daily tasks to mechanical teams and ensure quality standards are met.
  • Interpret and communicate mechanical design information to site teams.
  • Establish work plans and forecast resource needs.
  • Collaborate with trades, subcontractors, and management to resolve site issues.
  • Perform checks on mechanical components for compliance with codes and specifications.
  • Deliver hands-on training and mentorship to apprentices and junior team members.
  • Contribute to quality assurance and commissioning efforts.

Key Skills:

  • SSSTS and CSCS Card.
  • Minimum 3 years of experience as a Mechanical Foreman or similar role.
  • Demonstrated experience delivering mechanical packages on projects over £5m.
  • Competent IT/software skills.
  • Comprehensive health and safety knowledge.
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to organise and manage project schedules.
  • Proven leadership and team management skills.
  • Knowledge of construction processes, techniques, and materials.
  • In-depth understanding of mechanical systems, including HVAC and piping.
  • Exceptional attention to detail for quality standards adherence.
  • Proficient in diagnosing and fixing mechanical faults.
