Job Title: Mechanical Fitter (Grade 1) Location: Stoke:on:Trent Salary: We are offering a starting salary of GBP28,842 per annum for day shifts, rising to GBP34,407 per annum for night shifts, based on a 36:hour contract per week. Job Type: Full Time, Permanent.

The Role At DB Cargo UK, were currently recruiting for Mechanical Fitters to support both our Wagon and Wheel operations at Stoke, working across day and night shift patterns. As a Mechanical Fitter within our Wagon Team, you will be responsible for the maintenance, overhaul and refurbishment of rolling stock in accordance with the relevant regime and specification.

What will you be doing? This includes, but is not limited to : fault finding, rectification work, damage repairs, modification and work arising. To ensure that stock levels are kept to the required standard and stock is stored correctly. To order / reorder stock as required. To carry out damage reports / overload inspections on behalf of the customer and provide all documentation including photographs when required. To submit quotes and final costs for 3rd party work. Complete all relevant documentation relating to all work carried out on any rolling stock vehicle including completing and sending the Axiom proforma work order form V2 to the Field Maintenance Assistant. To correctly file / store all rolling stock documentation. To communicate stoppages and up to date on the progress of rolling stock to the Field Maintenance Coordinator via telephone.

What are we looking for? Were looking for someone with a mechanical mindset who has experience with the use of air and hand tools. Experience in Fabrication, grinding, brake testing is also an advantage. Experience operating manual or CNC lathes, particularly XYZ lathes, would be a significant advantage. Qualifications within an engineering discipline would be advantageous. Rail industry experience would also be an advantage. You must have a pro:active approach to working with good organisation skills.
