Summary: The Mechanical Estates Officer will join the on-site engineering team at Lewisham and Greenwich NHS Trust, responsible for the safe installation, operation, maintenance, and repair of the Trust's mechanical systems and buildings. This role requires significant training and experience in commercial mechanical building services, with a focus on leadership and technical management. The post holder will also be part of the on-call team, addressing emergency situations that may arise. Previous NHS experience is beneficial but not mandatory, as comprehensive training will be provided.
Key Responsibilities:
- Supervise and lead the safe installation, operation, maintenance, and repair of the Trust's plant, equipment, and buildings.
- Provide leadership and technical management within the Estates team.
- Ensure compliance with maintenance management legislation, standards, systems, and processes.
- Participate in emergency response situations as part of the on-call team.
- Support the training and development of team members in specialist Estates roles.
- Manage complex mechanical systems including heating, ventilation, air conditioning, and drainage.
Key Skills:
- Level 5 Award or equivalent in mechanical engineering or related field.
- ILM Level 4 or equivalent.
- NEBOSH National General Certificate or equivalent.
- At least 5 years of relevant experience in a similar role.
- Expert understanding of commercial mechanical building services.
- Proficiency in MS Office.
- Knowledge of maintenance management legislation and standards.
- Personal qualities such as commitment, integrity, and respect for others.
