Key Responsibilities:

Key Skills:
- Certified level 3 trade qualification in Vehicle Repair and Maintenance.
- At least two years’ post-apprentice experience in a trade role, including heavy vehicle experience.
- Level 3 qualification in vehicle system repair for Electric/Hybrid Vehicles.
- Qualified to install, maintain, and fault find 240v and 110v electrical systems.
- Excellent record-keeping skills for computerized repair and inspection data.
- Competent in IT software and Management Information Systems (MIS).
- Current UK C Class driving licence.

Venesky-Brown’s client, a public sector organisation in Belfast, is currently looking to recruit a Mechanical Engineering Technician for an initial 6 month contract with potential to extend on a rate of £19.11/hour PAYE – working 36.25hrs per week. This role will be based in Belfast.
Responsibilities:
- Responsible for the repair, maintenance, modification and servicing of all organisational vehicles and supporting equipment to standards defined in legislation and best practice.
- Responsible for diagnosis of faults, carrying out repairs and in-depth overhauls on a wide range of specialist vehicles, operational equipment and components.
- To assist other trades within Fleet & Engineering services and the communication departments, where their skill set is more applicable to affect that repair, including all operational equipment.
- To participate in the Regional Engineering on call Rota to facilitate an effective support network to ensure operational resilience is maintained out of hours. Will be expected to make all repair decisions unsupervised on all aspects of the vehicle and equipment repair.
- Responsible for the repairing, maintaining & inspecting all electrical & electronic circuits and/or equipment using the latest computer technology to diagnose faults down to circuit board level. To inspect and repair all 110v and 240v on board electronic systems and carry out electrical conditioning inspection reports and PAT testing on all mains electrical circuits on the fleet.
- Responsible for carrying out technical welding repairs and the design and fabrication of parts and engineering solutions using MIG, TIG, ARC, gas and specialist plastic welding across a broad range of vehicles and equipment.
- Responsible for carrying out inspections, repairs and servicing.
- To carry out emergency puncture repairs, balance wheels and carry out four wheel alignment using appropriate tyre fitting equipment.
- To undertake any other duties which may be assigned to meet organisational need and the change agenda and which are reasonably regarded as within the nature of the duties, responsibilities and grade of the post as defined.
Essential Skills:
- Possess a certified level 3 trade qualification as depicted in the NQF in Vehicle Repair and Maintenance and have at least two years’ post apprentice experience working in a trade role in their area of expertise which includes heavy vehicle.
- Must demonstrate experience in plant mechanics and light vehicle repair.
- Level 3 qualification as depicted in the NQF in vehicle system repair and replacement in Electric/Hybrid Vehicles.
- Qualified to safely install, maintain and fault find both 240v and 110v electrical systems on vehicles and equipment.
- Must demonstrate excellent record keeping of computerised repair and inspection data.
- Competent in the use of IT software and computer systems.
- Competent in the use of a Management Information System (MIS) for record keeping on repair data.
- Possess a current UK C Class driving licence.
Desirable Skills:
- Current UK category B+E licence.
- Lifting Operations and Lifting Equipment Regulations LOLER certified.
- Hold relevant welding certificates.
