Summary: The Mechanical Engineer role focuses on the design and analysis of static equipment, specifically tanks and vessels for methanol storage systems, within a Design Consultancy. The position requires expertise in structural integrity assessments and compliance with industry regulations. It offers a competitive day rate and is set to commence in June 2025 for a duration of 12 months. The role is hybrid, based in the Hull area.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead or support the design and analysis of tanks and pressure vessels, with a focus on methanol storage.
- Conduct structural integrity assessments and FEA (Finite Element Analysis) or equivalent methods.
- Oversee or contribute to the design and installation of nitrogen blanketing systems.
- Prepare technical documentation, analysis reports, and contribute to safety and compliance reviews.
- Interface with other engineering disciplines, project stakeholders, and regulatory bodies.
- Ensure designs meet COMAH regulations, industry codes (e.g., API 650, ASME), and internal standards.
- Proven experience in mechanical engineering with focus on static equipment.
- Expertise in tank and vessel design, including detailed knowledge of design codes and standards.
- Experience performing FEA or other structural integrity analyses.
- Familiarity with nitrogen blanketing systems and their integration into COMAH-regulated environments.
- Strong understanding of mechanical safety standards and hazardous area classification.
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
- Experience working on Tier 1 COMAH sites.
- Chartered Engineer status or working towards it.
- Experience in process safety or hazardous chemical storage design.
