Overview

The Pressure Compliance organisation sits within the Quality Function and is responsible for developing and delivering plant compliance for pressure systems structural integrity, conformity assessment and safety.

The team interacts closely with many different stakeholders, including project managers, engineering design, manufacturing/installation companies and regulators.

The Mechanical Engineer (Pressure Compliance ) will take responsibility for managing the pressure systems compliance and structural integrity requirements on behalf of a specific scope identified by the Pressure System Completions and Integration Manager and Pressure Compliance Lead, ensuring appropriate implementation and compliance to meet Project needs.

The role will require good technical and organisational capabilities to effectively interface with Project Managers and relevant stakeholders in the programme, the ONR, third party organisations and support the supply chain in delivery.

Their team and role will act as the single point of contact for pressure systems compliance and structural integrity requirements - through all phases of the project and for the various project policies, for their allocated scope.

The role may require trips abroad (mostly mainland Europe).

Principal Accountabilities

  • Support the development and maintenance of the pressure systems compliance and structural integrity requirements for their appointed work scope.
  • Ensure that project policies, processes and contracts are implemented and delivered to the right quality to manage pressure systems regulation and structural integrity safety case requirements.
  • Responsible for arbitration and technical decisions in regard to pressure systems regulation and structural integrity compliance for their programme.

Dimensions

  • Ensuring delivery by third parties on behalf of the project.
  • Develop strong working internal/external relationships (within the Project, regulators and the supply chain).
  • Be able to credibly advise projects and programmes on technical requirements and act as the technical decision maker in regard to pressure systems compliance and structural integrity activities as per their delegation of authority.

Qualification

  • Typically tertiary education qualified in a related Engineering or Science based discipline - or equivalent work related employment history

Knowledge and experience

  • Relevant experience in large scale project or asset management within a highly regulated industry sector as Power Generation, Nuclear Industry or Oil &Gas / Petro-Chemical.
  • Relevant engineering topic experience associated with pressure systems manufacture, installation, structural integrity and conformity assessment.
  • Mechanical engineering design and operation of pressure equipment specifically built to RCC-M or ASME codes.
  • Working in a multidisciplinary and matrix environment.
  • Working with regulators and supply chain companies to coach through the pressure compliance process.
  • Knowledge of regulatory requirements relating to plant in the UK would be a plus.

Desirable

  • Chartered Member of appropriate professional institution would be a plus (IMeche Preferred), or capable of being chartered.
