Summary: The Mechanical Design Engineer role is a contract position based in Castle Donington, focusing on the design of fabrications and static components for turbomachinery applications. The successful candidate will engage in creating 3D models, engineering drawings, and design calculations while ensuring compliance with industry standards. This position is expected to last between 6 to 12 months and operates outside of IR35 regulations.
Key Responsibilities:
- Create detailed 3D models and assemblies using Siemens NX.
- Generate engineering drawings.
- Perform engineering design calculations, e.g., tolerance stack-up analysis, bolted joint.
- Preparation of engineering design reports.
- Engage with suppliers and lead design for manufacturing activities.
- Ensure designs meet industry standards, customer specifications, and regulatory requirements.
Key Skills:
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering.
- Experience designing castings, machined parts, and fabrications.
- Experience using BS8888 and/or ASME Y14.5.
- Proficiency in NX software.
- Strong skills in mechanical calculations.
- Experience designing turbomachinery static components, casings, piping, and structures would be helpful but not essential.
- Experience using Teamcenter or similar PLM systems.
- Good communication skills with the ability to work in a small team as a self-starter.
