Key Responsibilities:
- Lead hardware design from concept to production release.
- Apply expertise across multiple engineering disciplines.
- Develop designs that meet cost, quality, and timeline targets.
- Conduct and participate in design reviews to ensure specifications are met.
- Work closely with build teams, design teams, and suppliers to implement and document design changes.
- Ensure smooth handover to Manufacturing for successful production release.

Key Skills:
- 2:1 degree or above in Mechanical Engineering or Systems Engineering with a mechanical focus.
- Proven track record in developing and commercializing complex systems or scientific instruments for low-to-medium volume manufacturing (up to 100 units per year).
- Experience in developing complex hardware/software/electronics systems, preferably in life sciences or laboratory applications.
- Designing components for automated equipment.
- Expertise in materials handling and automation.
- Experience leading small technical teams in equipment specification, procurement, build, and commissioning.
- Taking designs from concept to prototype to full-scale production.
- ISO 13485 knowledge (preferred).
