Summary: The Mechanical Engineer role involves leading the design, procurement, and project management of mechanical systems in a hybrid working environment. The position requires ensuring compliance, quality, and efficiency across various projects, including new builds and retrofits. The role also includes managing multiple projects and acting as a technical advisor to stakeholders. This position is classified as an inside IR35 contract with potential for permanent placement.
Key Responsibilities:
- Oversee design, specification, and project delivery of mechanical installations.
- Manage multiple projects, ensuring on-time and on-budget completion.
- Conduct site inspections, fault-finding, and compliance checks.
- Act as a technical advisor, liaising with stakeholders, residents, and contractors.
- Lead on procurement, contract management, and cost control.
- Stay up to date with building regulations, sustainability standards, and best practices.
- Supervise junior staff and provide guidance on technical issues.
- Review tenders, specifications, and contractor performance.
Key Skills:
- Degree or HND in Building Services Engineering (or equivalent experience).
- Chartered Engineer status (or working towards it) preferred.
- Strong technical knowledge of mechanical installations, heating systems, and low-carbon solutions.
- Experience managing medium to large-scale projects.
- Ability to write technical reports and oversee contract administration.
- Strong stakeholder management and communication skills.
- Familiarity with statutory regulations, codes of practice, and British Standards.
- Enhanced DBS clearance may be required.
