Key Responsibilities:
- Apply HVAC expertise to solve complex mechanical design challenges across all phases of the shipbuilding lifecycle.
- Contribute to the development and assurance of HVAC architectures, ensuring designs are technically sound and operationally safe.
- Collaborate with subcontractors and internal stakeholders to deliver fit-for-purpose HVAC systems.
- Support continuous improvement by shaping engineering processes, tools, and standards.
- Conduct technical investigations and analyses, recommending innovative and practical solutions.
- Influence overall warship design by understanding HVAC’s impact on survivability, acoustic performance, maintainability, and more.
- Prepare detailed specifications and design appraisals aligned with strict quality and safety requirements.
- Mentor and support less experienced engineers within the team.
- Act as a key technical contact for customers and suppliers in your area of responsibility.
Key Skills:
- Degree-qualified in engineering or a related discipline (or equivalent experience).
- 5+ years of engineering experience, preferably within defence, marine, or similarly regulated industries.
- Chartered or Incorporated Engineer status (or working towards).
- Strong technical knowledge of marine HVAC systems and auxiliary mechanical systems.
- Experience in the design, build, integration, and operation of naval vessels.
- Awareness of lifecycle engineering, design-for-support, and build strategies.
- Familiarity with engineering governance, standards, and risk-based design decision-making.
- A collaborative mindset with strong problem-solving and communication skills.
