Mechanical Design Enginerer

Summary: The Mechanical Design Engineer role involves supporting a design team in delivering building services projects in Glasgow and Edinburgh on a contract basis. The position requires expertise in mechanical building services design, including heating, cooling, and ventilation systems. The role is hybrid, allowing for both office and remote work, and is classified as outside IR35. The successful candidate will utilize software such as HEVACOMP and ideally Revit/AutoCAD to produce necessary calculations and schematics.

Key Responsibilities:

• Design mechanical building services for commercial, residential, and educational projects.
• Perform load calculations and sizing using HEVACOMP.
• Produce calculations, schematics, and schedules for projects.
• Select plant and equipment such as AHUs, heat pumps, boilers, and pumps.
• Coordinate with electrical, architectural, and structural teams.
• Support drawings and mark-ups, and respond to site queries.
• Apply knowledge of CIBSE guidance and UK standards for building services design.

Key Skills:

• Experience in mechanical building services design.
• Proficiency in HEVACOMP; knowledge of Revit/AutoCAD is ideal.
• Understanding of load calculations and equipment selection.
• Ability to coordinate with multidisciplinary teams.
• Familiarity with CIBSE guidance and UK standards.

Salary (Rate): £40 per hour
