Summary: The Materials Controller will manage the logistics and distribution of materials and equipment for a large-scale mechanical and electrical installation project in the renewable energy sector. This role is essential for ensuring efficient and safe handling of materials to support site operations. The ideal candidate will have experience in large construction projects, particularly within an EPC environment. Strong organizational skills and a solid understanding of M&E systems are crucial for success in this position.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage the on-site logistics, control and movement of M&E equipment and general construction materials.
  • Ensure timely receipt, inspection, and accurate documentation of deliveries.
  • Maintain up-to-date inventory records, including tools, plant, and consumables.
  • Coordinate with the site management and procurement teams to schedule deliveries in line with installation timelines.
  • Conduct regular stock checks and reconcile inventory discrepancies.
  • Ensure proper handling, storage, and security of all materials and site plant.
  • Distribute materials to work areas in coordination with supervisors and trades teams.
  • Liaise with suppliers, hauliers, and logistics partners to manage delivery issues or urgent requirements.
  • Operate forklifts or telehandlers (if licensed), ensuring safe handling of materials.
  • Maintain a clean, safe, and organised storage compound in compliance with site HSE standards.
  • Support the implementation of best practices in material control and logistics planning.

Key Skills:

  • Proven background in material control, logistics, or stores management on large construction sites.
  • Strong understanding of M&E materials, components, and equipment.
  • Prior experience working for or with an EPC contractor preferred.
  • Excellent organisational skills and attention to detail.
  • Confident using stock control systems and maintaining accurate records.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with site management, suppliers, and contractors.
  • Good working knowledge of health and safety procedures related to material handling and site logistics.
  • Comfortable working in a dynamic and fast-paced environment.

We are seeking an experienced and highly organised Materials Controller to oversee the site-based management of materials and equipment for a major mechanical and electrical installation on a renewable energy project. This role is critical to ensuring that all materials are received, stored, and distributed efficiently and safely to support daily site operations.

The ideal candidate will bring prior experience working on large-scale construction projects, particularly those involving M&E systems and equipment. Experience within an EPC environment is highly advantageous.
