Summary: The Material Handling Engineer - Mechanical will be responsible for designing and optimizing material handling systems, including both manual and automated solutions. This role involves collaborating with cross-functional teams, ensuring compliance with regulations, and leading projects from concept to commissioning. The engineer will also analyze workflows and logistics data to enhance productivity and prepare detailed engineering documentation.
Key Responsibilities:
- Design and optimise material handling systems (manual and automated), including conveyors, storage systems, Automated Guided Vehicle (AGVs), cranes, and packaging stations.
- Develop layouts and detailed engineering drawings using CAD tools.
- Analyse work-flows and logistics data to improve material flow, reduce bottlenecks, and enhance productivity.
- Specify and evaluate material handling equipment and vendors based on performance, cost, and safety.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams including operations, procurement, logistics, and maintenance.
- Lead or support the implementation of material handling projects, from concept through commissioning.
- Ensure compliance with HSE regulations and internal standards.
- Prepare cost estimates, project schedules, and risk assessments for proposed systems.
- Support the development of standard operating procedures (SOPs) and training materials.
- Conduct root cause analysis and implement continuous improvement initiatives related to material handling performance.
- Create detailed material handling reports.
Key Skills:
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Logistics Engineering, or a related field.
- Extensive relevant work experience can compensate for lack of formal education.
- Min 3 years of experience in material handling system design and implementation.
- Knowledge of Danish legislation and offshore regulations is an advantage.
- Familiarity with DNV standards is highly valued, but not an absolute requirement.
- Experience with EPC and EPCIC project models and supplier follow-up across engineering and execution phases.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively across disciplines and vendors.
- Strong communication skills in English, both verbal and written. Danish language skills are a plus.
