Experience of working within costal state services in an organisational capacity

Role will require liaison with Lighthouse Authority as stakeholders

Looking for not only on ship experience but the state

Regulatory Setting experience (desirable) and PM

Role has come about as they do not have someone internally that can take on the level of research and excellent written reporting skills required.

They may have worked for:

  • Royal Navy,
  • Cruise Ships
  • UKHO experience
  • Ex senior leaders from military / navy.

Background to the role

Multiple lines of technology being introduced that will replace legacy kit.

The Marine Safety and PNT Services Branch is resourced to undertake regulatory work on existing, established navigation systems and technologies.

It represents the UK at various international forums such as the UN and controls the UK's coastal state services, ensuring that they are compliant with international regulation.

A large number of novel technologies and systems are now being discussed at international forums, with a view to future adoption.

Regulatory teams are not resourced to do the additional research, analysis and liaison work which is required to develop the regulatory positions for these new technologies/systems and close MCA's knowledge gaps.
