Summary: The Marine Designer role is a 6-month contract position based in Surrey, focusing on a high-profile offshore project for a leading oil and gas EPC contractor. The successful candidate will support and lead a Marine Team, coordinating with multidisciplinary teams and providing technical guidance. This position requires significant experience in marine design and the ability to manage remote teams effectively. The role offers a hybrid working arrangement, with three days in the office and two days remote.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Support and lead within the Marine Team, working on a Saudi Aramco project.
  • Liaise closely with other engineering disciplines, clients, and vendors.
  • Coordinate with global project teams to deliver work within agreed timelines and budgets.
  • Provide technical guidance and mentor Junior designers.
  • Manage and oversee remote design teams.
  • Develop project-specific job notes, guides, and training materials to ensure consistent deliverables.
  • Organise team schedules and allocate resources to meet project milestones.
  • Break down project scopes to drawing level and estimate resource requirements.
  • Work effectively in a hybrid office-based environment.

Key Skills:

  • Marine & Structural Designer with formal qualification and/or significant on-the-job training.
  • Minimum 10 years' experience in marine design.
  • Strong proficiency in Aveva Marine.
  • Demonstrable leadership experience managing remote teams.
  • Ability to prioritise workload and respond effectively to urgent issues.
  • Competent in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
  • Comfortable working both independently and within a multidisciplinary team.
  • Willing and able to work 3 days per week in the Surrey office.

Marine Designer - Contract (6 Months)

Surrey | £52 per hour | Outside IR35 | Hybrid (3 days office / 2 days remote)

RHL Recruitment, working with a leading oil and gas EPC contractor, who are seeking two experienced Senior Marine Designers to join a high-profile offshore project, on an initial 6-month contract. This is an exciting opportunity to play a key role within a dynamic Marine Team, supporting the delivery of complex offshore design scopes while coordinating with multidisciplinary teams across global offices.

The Role

As a Marine Designer, you will:

  • Support and lead within the Marine Team, working on a Saudi Aramco project.

Requirements
