Summary: The Marine Control Room Operator at Petrofac is responsible for overseeing marine activities on the ALBA FSU, ensuring safe operations and compliance with safety standards. Key Responsibilities:

  • Safe execution of marine activities as part of the marine operations team.
  • Control Room Operations including loading and discharge of cargo, crude oil washing, and supply vessel operations.
  • Monitoring weather and FSU safety and control systems.
  • Maintaining stability of FSU and preparing load and discharge cargo plans.
  • Maintaining cargo quality suitable for export and conducting appropriate sampling of cargo tanks.
  • Deck operations such as mooring operations with shuttle tanker and operation of inert gas systems.
  • Carrying out role of Performing Authority, Isolating Authority, and administrative duties.
  • Preparation of Cargo and Ballast tanks for entry and inspection.
  • Operation of various marine systems throughout the FPSO.
  • First line maintenance on marine systems in conjunction with Marine Technicians.
  • Supporting Vendor maintenance and repair workscopes.
  • Maintenance of safety equipment throughout the FSU.
  • Developing competency to stand in for Area Authority and Cargo Supervisor if required.
  • Fulfilling an emergency response role within Installation Emergency Response Teams.
  • Administrative duties including raising and completing work orders and shift logs.

Key Skills:

  • Merchant Navy OOW certificate of competency with crude oil tanker experience and dangerous cargo endorsement.
  • Previous offshore experience in FPSO/FSU operations is desirable but not essential.
  • Familiarity with modern control room systems.
  • Good leadership and communication skills.
  • IT Literate.

JOB TITLE: MARINE CONTROL ROOM OPERATOR

Role on ALBA FSU on a 6-month fixed term contract

Key Responsibilities

  • Reporting to the Cargo Supervisor the Marine Control Room Operator is responsible for safe execution of marine activities as part of the marine operations team.
  • Control Room Operations such as loading and discharge of cargo, crude oil washing, supply vessel operations, monitoring weather and monitoring of FSU safety and control systems.
  • Maintaining Stability of FSU, preparation of load and discharge cargo plans and responding appropriately to any stability anomalies.
  • Maintaining cargo quality suitable for export, in liaison with chemist carry out appropriate sampling of cargo tanks and recovery of free water from tanks and subsequent overboard disposal.
  • Deck operations e.g. mooring operations with shuttle tanker, crude oil washing, operation of inert gas systems.
  • Carry out role of Performing Authority, Isolating Authority and administrative duties as part of control of work systems.
  • Preparation of Cargo and Ballast tanks for entry and inspection.
  • Operation of a variety of marine systems throughout the FPSO such as hydraulic cargo systems, bilge and ballast systems.
  • Carrying out first line maintenance on the various marine systems in conjunction with the Marine Technicians.
  • Supporting Vendor maintenance and repair workscopes
  • Maintenance of safety equipment throughout the FSU.
  • Develop competency to stand in for Area Authority and Cargo Supervisor if required.
  • Fulfil an emergency response role within one of the Installation Emergency Response Teams.
  • Administrative duties e.g. Raising and completing work orders, shift logs, loading and discharge records

Commitment to Incident Free Operations through completion of audits, worksite observations, area ownership etc

Essential Qualifications And Skills

  • Merchant Navy OOW certificate of competency with crude oil tanker experience and dangerous cargo endorsement.
  • Previous offshore experience in FPSO/FSU operations is desirable but not essential.
