Summary: The Manufacturing Operative role at Luxfer MEL Technologies involves working with magnesium and zirconium products in a production environment. The position requires operating machinery, monitoring production processes, and ensuring product quality. Candidates must have relevant experience and qualifications, including proficiency with manual lathes and saws. This is a fixed-term contract for 12 months based in Swinton, Greater Manchester.

Key Responsibilities:

• Using manual lathes and bandsaws to prepare billets.
• Operating process equipment and machinery, including semi and fully automated machinery.
• Monitoring processes and recording parameters for production records, log sheets, and SAP transactions.
• Communicating current status to other operators and departments.
• Performing in-house tests/analysis to ensure product specifications are met.
• Packing finished goods into containers for transportation.
• Aiding in the investigation and identification of root causes of out-of-spec products and production issues.

Key Skills:

• Experience in an industrial or manufacturing environment.
• Proficiency with manual lathes or saws; preferably qualified machinist.
• Valid forklift truck licence.
• 5 GCSEs (including English and Maths) at grades A-C.
• Post-school education (NVQ level 3 or equivalent) in a relevant subject.
• Ability to use initiative, prioritise tasks, and work under pressure.
• Safety conscious with a high level of attention to detail.
• Professional approach to work and ability to work as part of a team.
• Pendant crane qualification is advantageous.
