Job Title: Machinist Duration: 6 Months Location: The Airport, Newmarket Rd, Cambridge CB5 8RX Rates: Days: 19.12 PAYE plus 2,98 holiday pay / 26.06 umbrella Nights 23.10 PAYE plus 3.59 holiday pay / 31.43 umbrella Shift Patterns : Day Shift Mon -Thurs 7.15am-3.45pm Friday 7.15am-12:15pm Night Shift Mon-Thurs 9.15 hours 5.30pm- 2:25am Job Description Summary The manufacture of components as detailed within Land Systems Manufacturing route cards, work requests and verbal instructions in accordance with internal and external processes and procedures, including certification of own work when applicable. Supervision of Apprentices / Trainees when required. Main duties: This role will give you the chance to play a key part in ground-breaking and high-profile defence projects. You ll be part of an industry-leading team, working with Marshall and other major defence stakeholders and Primes. Purpose of the role: Operation/setting of CNC and manual machine tools (brake presses, saws and laser cutters). Machining of composite/metallic components to a high standard. Carry out planned maintenance of machinery in accordance with maintenance schedules. Tooling Modifications and repairs as detailed within manufacturing job cards and verbal instructions. To ensure all work is carried out safely and in line with local risk assessments and current health and safety legislation. (Training will be available to allow all staff to gain more skills within the department outside the requirements of this job profile). Qualifications You will have: - Significant experience using CNC machines and manual machine tools Extensive experience in Component Part Manufacturing/Assemblies within an Engineering/Manufacturing environment NVQ level 3 or equivalent or time-served apprentice Good communication skills Demonstrate high standards of quality at work Ability to plan own workload and prioritise Experience of machining composite materials would be beneficial Flexible approach to work.
