Summary: The Manufacturing Engineer (S/4 HANA) role is a contract position focused on bridging Manufacturing Engineering with the SAP S/4HANA ERP platform during its implementation. The engineer will provide technical knowledge from design to manufacturing, facilitate process improvements, and support the training of users in new processes. Key Responsibilities:

  • Act as the SAP S/4HANA subject matter expert during the transition.
  • Provide manufacturing technical knowledge and instruction from design to completion.

Contract role - Manufacturing Engineer (Inside IR35) 6 months initially Location - West Midlands - Foremost to act as the SAP S/4HANA subject matter expert. As the organisation transitions to SAP S/4HANA, this role will bridge Manufacturing Engineering with the new ERP platform:

To provide manufacturing technical knowledge and instruction from the design stage to the completion of manufacture including feeding information into the design team for DFM and to make available new technologies and capabilities. To seek, facilitate and achieve directly improvements to processes, which could include investment, creating the business case for that demonstrating the resulting change to: productivity, efficiency, quality or other gain is justified. Further to eliminate waste wherever it may exist and always seek to improve visibility of operations

Act as Manufacturing Engineering Key User during SAP S/4HANA implementation, ensuring that business requirements are represented during design, testing, and deployment Develop strong expertise in S/4HANA modules relevant to manufacturing, including Material Master, Production Planning (PP), Production Execution, and Manufacturing Data Management Support the definition, set-up, and ongoing maintenance of Material Masters, Bills of Material (BoM), Routings, Work Centres, and Production Versions to ensure data accuracy and compliance with quality standards Participate in and lead elements of User Acceptance Testing (UAT) for manufacturing-related transactions and scenarios, validating system behaviour against real-world shop floor requirements Work closely with ERP project teams, consultants, and business stakeholders to map existing manufacturing processes into S/4HANA, identifying gaps and proposing solutions Train and support fellow Manufacturing Engineers and shop floor users in new processes and transactions within SAP, acting as the “go-to” expert within the team Post Go Live, provide first-line support and troubleshooting for manufacturing-related system issues, escalating as required Drive continuous improvement by identifying opportunities to better use S/4HANA functionality to streamline planning, scheduling, and production execution
