Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead sustaining engineering efforts for electromechanical capital equipment.
  • Own and optimize manufacturing processes for mechanical assemblies.
  • Collaborate with production teams to ensure manufacturability and operator-friendly processes.
  • Conduct detailed failure analysis using forensic tools (microscopy, lab testing, etc.).
  • Drive Six Sigma and statistical process control initiatives.
  • Develop and refine DTX (Design to eXcellence) strategies.
  • Interface with cross-functional teams including R&D, Quality, and Operations.
  • Mentor junior engineers and support continuous improvement initiatives.

Key Skills:

  • Strong understanding of machine components: bearings, motors (stepper/brushless), linear rails, ball screws.
  • Experience with harmonic drives, gearboxes, and precision mechanical systems.
  • Hands-on experience in a machine shop or similar manufacturing environment.
  • Ability to design processes that account for operator variability and reduce failure rates.
  • Familiarity with capital equipment assembly challenges and component-level troubleshooting.
  • Proficiency in Six Sigma, statistical analysis, and root cause methodologies.

Sr Manufacturing Engineer

Location: San Jose, CA

Duration: 12 Month Contract- multiyear project, plans to extend

Overview: We are seeking a Senior Manufacturing Engineer with a strong mechanical and electromechanical background to lead sustaining manufacturing efforts for complex capital equipment. This role is primarily focused on mechanical manufacturing, with exposure to NPI as a secondary function. The ideal candidate will be deeply involved in failure analysis, process design, and root cause investigations, particularly for robotic systems and precision components.
