Job Description
Manufacturing Engineer — Cable Process & Supplier Quality · Own and improve cable twisting and coating processes at supplier manufacturing sites.
· Drive process qualification, FMEA implementation, process-flow documentation, and manufacturing-readiness activities.
· Support coating-line upgrades, supplier-quality activities, electroplating decisions, and post-twist trials.
· Define pass/fail criteria and process controls before production restarts or cables advance to tape insertion.
Manufacturing Engineer — Tape Insertion & Test Stand · Own the tape-insertion process and provide hands-on support during factory acceptance testing, cable production, and tape-insertion campaigns.
· Document the tape-insertion process, including work instructions, process controls, and traceability requirements.
· Commission and support an incoming-inspection test stand for tape measurements, thickness measurements, and visual inspection.
· Establish traceability connecting reel intake, test results, and cable assignment.
· Identify and qualify alternative tape-insertion options to reduce supplier dependency.
· Provide hands-on support during prototype, pilot, and early-production activities.
Most Important Skills Needed
- Manufacturing engineering experience in specialized, high-precision, or low-volume production environments.
- Experience with cable processing, twisting, spray-applied coatings, tape insertion, testing, or related manufacturing processes.
- Experience with process development, qualification, NPI, supplier management, FAT/SAT, production ramp-up, and manufacturing readiness.
- Ability to design, procure, install, commission, and qualify production equipment, automation, tooling, fixtures, or jigs.
- Experience writing work instructions, SOPs, process-flow documentation, and visual aids for production teams.
- Experience supporting prototype, first-article, pilot, or early-production builds directly on the manufacturing floor.
- Experience with supplier qualification, incoming inspection criteria, quality documentation, process change control, and continuous improvement.
Education Requirements
Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Materials Science, or a related field.
A minimum of three years’ experience specifying, procuring, installing, commissioning, and qualifying production equipment or automation is required.
