Responsibilities
- Evaluating manufacturing processes by designing and conducting research programs; applying knowledge of product design, testing, assembly, tooling, and materials; conferring with equipment vendors; soliciting observations from operators
- Supporting manufacturing demand by relieving bottlenecks and problem-solving production constraints; attending breakdowns and reacting efficiently to escalation from manufacturing teams
- Developing manufacturing processes by studying product requirements; researching, designing, modifying, and testing manufacturing methods and equipment; conferring with equipment vendors
- Improve manufacturing efficiency by analysing and planning workflow, space requirements, and equipment layout
- Assure product and process quality by designing testing methods; testing finished- product and process capabilities; establishing standards; confirming manufacturing processes
- Provide manufacturing decision-making information by calculating production, labour, and material costs; reviewing production schedules; estimating future requirements
- Prepare product and process reports by collecting, analysing, and summarising information and trends
Requirements
- A degree in an Engineering discipline or equivalent
- Previous proven experience working as a Manufacturing Engineer within an automotive or aerospace Tier 1
- Knowledge of continuous improvement methods and lean techniques
- Familiar with process techniques and documentation such as FMEAs, process flows, work instructions, control plans etc.
- Hands-on experience with bespoke equipment, tooling, and automation
- Good understanding of design for assembly and manufacturing constraints for high-volume manufacture
- Confident with both internal and external customers and suppliers, able to detail requirements and understand issues
