Summary: The Manufacturing Engineer role in Basildon involves developing and optimizing manufacturing processes while ensuring compliance with quality standards and government regulations. Key Responsibilities:
- Developing manufacturing processes by studying product requirements; researching, designing, modifying, and testing manufacturing methods and equipment.
- Preparing for and organizing Manufacturing Maturity Reviews, maintaining governance through the Lifecycle Management process, and creating/contributing/reviewing and/or leading Manufacturing Plans.
- Providing manufacturing decision-making information with resolution proposals by reviewing production schedules, production labour and material costs, and estimating future requirements.
- Preparing product and process reports by collecting, analyzing, and summarizing information and trends.
- Resolving complex product and/or production issues & constraints on the shop floor, reacting efficiently to escalation from manufacturing teams.
- Improving manufacturing efficiency by capacity analysis, simulation planning workflow, space requirements, and equipment layout.
- Reviewing manufacturing documentation, including input to process-specific risk assessments, COSHH data, technical reports, and specifications.
- Assuring product and process quality by designing methods; validating/verification of process capabilities; establishing standards; confirming manufacturing processes.
- Contributing to failure investigations using problem-solving techniques (e.g., 8D).
- Assuring manufacturing data, including routings, production plans, control plans, and electronic work instructions.
- Identifying continuous improvement activities to develop skills and competencies within Manufacturing Engineering.
- Completing improvement and development projects by training and interacting with the organizations’ manufacturing engineer community.
- Promoting a culture of best practice sharing and knowledge exploitation.
- Mentoring, coaching, and developing more junior members of the team to enhance overall capability.
- Providing domain experience in support of customer and user engagement and product road maps.
- Maintaining product and company reputation by complying with government regulations.
