Summary: The Manufacturing Engineer role is a 5-month contract based in Ampthill, focusing on developing manufacturing processes for a leading Defence and Aerospace company. The position requires expertise in MRP systems, CAD software for 2D technical drawings, and managing BOMs. The role emphasizes collaboration and continuous improvement within a dynamic environment. Candidates will be involved in defining operations, creating process instructions, and liaising with various engineering functions.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop manufacturing processes.
  • Define sequence of operations, procedures, and production layouts for assemblies, equipment installation, processing, and material handling.
  • Provide basis of estimates for engineering activities and shop floor operations.
  • Identify any new tooling & fixturing requirements.
  • Create Technical Requirement Specifications.
  • Create detailed process instructions.
  • Create Manufacturing BOMs/routings.
  • Maintain close liaison with Industrial Engineering, Production Engineering, and other functions.
  • Support business process reviews and the generation/update of relevant documentation.

Key Skills:

  • Detailed Assembly Processing knowledge (Electro-Mechanical, Bonding, etc.).
  • Knowledge of Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma, and quality improvement tools.
  • Experience with CAD software for generating 2D technical drawings.
  • Solid understanding of MRP systems.
  • Experience managing BOMs and routings in SAP (or similar ERP systems).
  • A collaborative mindset with a passion for continuous improvement.
  • Composite processing knowledge.

Salary (Rate): £35/hour

You will be involved in:

  • Develop manufacturing processes

  • Experienced in the creation of Technical Requirement Specifications
  • Creation of detailed process instructions
