Summary: The Manufacturing Engineer (FTC) role at Elevation Recruitment Group involves enhancing manufacturing methods within a global engineering business focused on advanced manufacturing sectors. Key Responsibilities:
- Develop and continuously improve manufacturing methods to meet safety, quality, cost, and delivery targets.
- Provide technical input and hands-on support to resolve shopfloor production issues.
- Support new product introductions (NPI) and industrialisation projects from concept through to implementation.
- Create and maintain controlled documents, including BOMs, routings, SOPs, and technique sheets.
- Lead or contribute to cost reduction, process improvement, and margin enhancement projects.
- Oversee tooling and fixture design, supplier engagement, trials, and implementation.
- Utilise problem-solving tools such as RCA, 8D, and PFMEA to identify root causes and implement corrective actions.
- Support capital investment projects, including business case creation, ROI justification, and project execution.
- Engage cross-functionally with quality, planning, operations, and commercial teams to meet customer requirements.
- Contribute to the identification and adoption of new technologies for process competitiveness.
- Conduct H&S risk assessments and contribute to investigations when required.
Key Skills:
- A minimum of 5 years’ experience in an engineering environment (aerospace, automotive, heavy industry, etc.).
- HNC or equivalent in Mechanical, Manufacturing or Industrial Engineering.
- Experience in two or more areas of production such as CNC machining, fabrication, sheet metal, welding, EDM, or heat treatment.
- Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, including a strong understanding of GD&T.
- Knowledge of engineering change control, risk management, and technical documentation.
- Strong experience using problem-solving tools (PFMEA, 5 Whys, 8D, etc.).
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office tools, including Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook, and Teams.
- Aerospace manufacturing experience and familiarity with lean/Six Sigma methodologies would be advantageous.
