Summary: Assystem is seeking a Manufacturing Engineer for the External Supply Chain to work on a contract basis at their customer's site in Derby. Key Responsibilities:

  • Assess the capability of manufacturing suppliers and support source selection and approval in the supply chain.
  • Govern the execution of Manufacturing Engineering activities in the External Supply Chain.
  • Ensure development and continuous improvement of manufacturing processes and methods that meet safety, quality, cost, delivery rate, and lead-time requirements.
  • Utilize knowledge of DFMEA / PFMEA to influence product definition and final form manufacture.
  • Act as the primary Manufacturing Engineering representative within a cross-functional team for suppliers.
  • Build customer and supplier relationships using negotiation and coaching skills.

Key Skills:

  • Experience in fabrications, valves, complex assemblies, machining, and critical classified components.
  • Degree or equivalent in engineering or related technical discipline.
  • Previous experience in manufacturing engineering and/or process engineering.
  • Strong analytical and technical problem-solving skills.
  • Knowledge of six sigma / lean techniques.
  • Excellent communication, organizational, and presentation skills.

Key responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • You will assess the capability of manufacturing suppliers and support source selection and approval in the supply chain.
  • You will govern the execution of Manufacturing Engineering activities in the External Supply Chain to assure the development and continuous improvement of manufacturing processes and/or methods of manufacture which meet business and customer requirements for safety, quality, cost, delivery rate and lead-time (SQCD).
  • Fundamental knowledge of DFMEA / PFMEA to influence Product definition / final form manufacture.
  • You will act as the primary Manufacturing Engineering representative within a cross-functional team for their suppliers.
  • You will use natural and learned negotiation/coaching skills and business acumen to build customer & supplier relationships at all levels.

Qualifications Experience: Experience of any of fabrications, valves, complex assemblies, machining and of critical classified components. You will have a degree, or equivalent, in an engineering or related technical discipline with previous experience in a manufacturing engineering and/or process engineering background. You will have strong analytical skills and a proven record of technical problem-solving skills along with knowledge of six sigma / lean techniques. You will be a good communicator and able to liaise with all levels of staff. You will possess excellent organisational and presentation skills and feel comfortable presenting at all levels.

Additional Information Security clearance This role requires the successful candidate to hold a minimum of a Security Check (SC) clearance without any caveats to that clearance. Due to the nature of work this role will be delivering and for the protection of certain assets, the successful candidate has to be a UK national or in MoD approved cases a Dual National from a non-ITAR country.
