Summary: The Manufacturing Bid Lead will oversee the generation of bid data for manufacturing projects, ensuring compliance and competitiveness in proposals. This role involves collaboration with key stakeholders and the development of cost models to support bid submissions. The position requires strong analytical skills and the ability to manage multiple bids effectively. The contract is for 12 months with a focus on continuous improvement in the bidding process.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead manufacturing bids, ensuring clarity of scope and alignment with industrial policy.
  • Generate cost bases for manufacturing bids and analyze data for accuracy and evidence-backed estimates.
  • Create competitive and compliant manufacturing bids using PowerPoint, assessing risks and ensuring financial soundness.
  • Develop and maintain collaborative relationships with stakeholders, providing visibility on future bids.
  • Support the New Business Team in identifying opportunities and developing winning strategies.
  • Participate in functional and strategic change activities, promoting best practices.
  • Contribute to the validation and evolution of cost models and bidding methodologies.
  • Collect, summarize, and present data for decision-making, ensuring clarity and auditability.

Key Skills:

  • Experience in complex bids and costed proposals within an engineering or production environment.
  • Understanding of manufacturing production processes from procurement to delivery.
  • Commercial acumen in working with cost models for direct and indirect costs.
  • Strong presentation skills for generating and presenting bid packs.
  • Excellent communication skills for building relationships across multi-functional teams.
  • Ability to articulate costing theories and ensure evidence is collected for audits.
  • Experience in continuous improvement and lessons learned in bidding processes.
  • Logical thinking and data analytics experience.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with stakeholders and influence decisions.
  • Proactive and tenacious with strong prioritization skills.
