Summary: The role of Manual Test Engineer requires an experienced professional to support testing activities within a complex and secure government program. The position involves both on-site and remote work, with a strong preference for candidates experienced in Legacy or Mainframe environments. SC Clearance is mandatory for this role.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Design and implement test solutions, including building new approaches from scratch
  • Apply structured and risk-based testing methodologies
  • Complete test design, analysis, preparation, and hands-on execution
  • Use recognised test design techniques to ensure comprehensive test coverage
  • Create and manage test data, including database knowledge and test data preparation
  • Provide accurate estimates and impact assessments for planned work
  • Produce clear, concise test progress and status reports
  • Perform testing across Unit, System, Functional, Integration and Non-Functional areas (performance, accessibility, security)
  • Support wider engineering activities including dependency upgrades, configuration management, application support and pair programming
  • Constructively challenge technical solutions and approaches across the delivery lifecycle

Location: Telford (onsite 2 days per week) + Remote (3 days per week)
Clearance: SC Clearance required

Overview

A major central government programme is seeking an experienced Manual Test Engineer to support a broad range of testing activities across a complex and secure delivery environment. Candidates with experience working in Legacy or Mainframe environments will be strongly preferred.
