Summary: The Senior Management Accountant role is based in Coventry or Oxfordshire, offering hybrid working arrangements. The position involves producing accurate financial reports, managing a small team, and providing financial insights to support business performance. The contract is for an initial duration of six months and requires an immediate start. The role is classified as inside IR35.
Key Responsibilities:
- Produce accurate monthly management accounts, including Profit & Loss, Balance Sheet and supporting schedules.
- Take ownership of entity trial balances, ensuring all financial information is complete and accurate.
- Prepare and post journals, including accruals, prepayments and other month end adjustments.
- Complete balance sheet reconciliations and investigate any variances.
- Process intercompany transactions and reconciliations across multiple entities.
- Provide clear commentary on financial performance, highlighting key variances against budget and forecast.
- Support the preparation of annual budgets and regular financial forecasts.
- Build strong relationships with operational managers, providing financial support and commercial insight.
- Maintain the fixed asset register and monitor capital expenditure.
- Support the year end audit process and liaise with external auditors.
- Prepare cashflow forecasts and manage intercompany funding requirements.
- Identify opportunities to improve financial reporting, controls and business performance.
- Line manage and develop a Management Accountant, providing support, coaching and review of their work.
Key Skills:
- Qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA or CIMA)
- Strong management accounting experience within a commercial environment.
- Experience producing month end management accounts from trial balance through to final reporting.
- Good understanding of accruals, prepayments, balance sheet reconciliations and intercompany accounting.
- Experience supporting budgeting and forecasting processes.
- Previous experience partnering with operational stakeholders.
- Strong Excel skills with the ability to analyse and interpret financial data.
- Previous people management or supervisory experience would be advantageous.
- Experience using Sage 200 or similar ERP systems would be beneficial.
- Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines.

This role requires an immediate start.
My client is looking to appoint an experienced Senior Management Accountant to join their growing finance team on an interim basis. This is an excellent opportunity to join a large, commercially focused organisation where you'll play a key role in delivering accurate financial reporting, supporting business performance, and line management of one individual.
Working closely with the Financial Controller, you'll take ownership of the monthly management accounts for a portfolio of entities, support budgeting and forecasting activities, and provide meaningful financial insight to operational stakeholders.
