Summary: The role of Management Accountant is an 8-month fixed-term contract based in Sheffield, aimed at supporting the finance function of a growing SME. The position involves preparing management accounts, cash flow forecasting, and providing financial analysis to senior stakeholders. The successful candidate will work closely with operational teams to ensure accurate financial reporting during a pivotal growth period for the business. This role requires a proactive individual with significant management accounting experience and strong analytical skills.
Key Responsibilities:
- Preparation of monthly management accounts
- Cash flow forecasting and cost of sales analysis
- Detailed variance analysis and financial commentary for senior stakeholders
- Budgeting and forecasting, including supporting the development of financial models
- Maintenance of the fixed asset register
- Oversight of accounts payable and receivable functions
- Processing journals, VAT returns, and bank reconciliations
- Assisting with payroll and other day-to-day financial operations
Key Skills:
- A minimum of 3–5 years’ experience in a management accounting role
- A recognised accounting qualification (ACCA, CIMA, ACA) or equivalent experience
- Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel
- Previous experience with Sage (desirable but not essential)
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills
- Strong communication skills, with the ability to present financial information clearly to non-finance colleagues
