Summary: The role of Management Accountant at a leading business services firm in Kent involves preparing monthly management accounts, conducting P&L reviews, and ensuring compliance with statutory regulations. The position is temporary to permanent and requires collaboration with various teams while supervising an Accounts Assistant. Key Responsibilities:
- Prepare accurate and timely monthly management accounts
- Post monthly journal entries, including accruals and prepayments
- Conduct P&L reviews with variance analysis and commentary in line with group finance policies
- Review and reconcile key balance sheet accounts regularly
- Manage VAT returns and intercompany balances to ensure statutory compliance
- Prepare audit schedules, respond to external audit queries, and provide supporting analysis
- Partner with the Finance Controller to design and implement robust financial controls and systems
- Oversee daily bank reconciliations
- Prepare weekly cash flow forecasts for review and submission to Group Finance
- Maintain and manage the fixed asset register
- Support quarterly forecasting, budgeting, and Expected Credit Loss (ECL) calculations
- Work closely with administrative and support teams to meet monthly deadlines
- Supervise the Accounts Assistant and contribute to team development
Key Skills:
- Ideally a qualified accountant (eg ACA, ACCA, CIMA). Part-qualified or qualified by experience will be considered.
- Proven experience in management accounting
- Strong analytical, communication, and IT skills
- Ability to work collaboratively across teams and adapt in a dynamic environment
