Summary: The Management Accountant role at a charity in East Sussex involves overseeing financial management and reporting services during a 6-month fixed-term maternity leave contract. Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide high-quality financial management and reporting services.
  • Oversee financial administration and ensure data accuracy and confidentiality.
  • Manage charity share, including pledges and direct debit collections.
  • Respond to queries from departments and manage bookkeeping for various ledgers.
  • Prepare and post journals for payroll and manage accruals and prepayments.
  • Review purchase invoices and manage sales invoices with correct VAT treatment.
  • Prepare monthly management accounts and support staff in using Xledger.
  • Assist with cashflow forecasts and prepare ad hoc reports for budget holders.
  • Collaborate with the Finance Director on year-end accounts and audits.
  • File quarterly VAT returns and assist with payroll and pension inquiries.

Key Skills:

  • Recognised CCAB accounting qualification.
  • At least three years' experience in a relevant role.
  • Experience in preparing VAT returns and managing payroll and pensions.
  • Knowledge of Charity SORP and experience in preparing charity accounts.
  • Proficient in computerised accounts and spreadsheet applications.
  • IT literate with experience in Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook.
  • High attention to detail and strong numeracy skills.
  • Ability to work under tight deadlines and self-organise effectively.
  • Effective communication skills at all levels, including non-accountants.
  • Collaborative team member with the ability to work independently.

Salary (Rate): 50000
