Summary: The Management Accountant role involves providing financial oversight and reporting for the Alaska Business Unit, ensuring compliance with budgetary objectives and cost control standards. The position requires collaboration with various departments to manage expenditures and support decision-making processes. This role is temporary, covering approximately 6 months of extended leave. The ideal candidate will possess strong analytical skills and relevant experience in finance or accounting within the oil and gas industry.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Monitor and partner with the BU to manage expenditures and support decision-making across the Business.
  • Monitor contractual terms, production operations, and value of work completed against invoices received to determine monthly accruals.
  • Support the preparation and reporting of annual budgets, monthly performance reporting, and tracking against KPIs, and prepare analysis and commentary for results.
  • Review and update cost coding and allocations.
  • Review, analyze, and update production operation forecast values.
  • Develop cost controls, operating metrics, and reporting procedures in readiness for first oil operationalization.

Key Skills:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in finance or business.
  • MBA, CPA, or relevant cost control certifications highly desirable.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Strong problem-solving, data modeling, and analytical skills.
  • Proficient computer skills with MS Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, etc.).
  • Experience working with SAP and Power BI desirable.
  • 5+ years of progressive experience in finance or accounting.
  • Knowledge of the upstream oil and gas industry preferred, ideally from an exploration and production company.
  • Experience working on oil and gas production operations and major capital projects, ideally in harsh weather or logistically challenging environments.
  • Experience with joint venture and IFRS accounting desirable.

Description:Reporting to the Senior Finance Manager, the Management Accountant is assigned to the Alaska Business Unit (“BU”) and will provide the BU senior leadership with all information related to volumes, revenues, expenditures and cost controlling for the BU. The position is responsible for reporting and controlling expenditures in compliance with the objectives of annual cost and revenue budgets and company Standards in terms of project and operations cost control.The position will work closely with all BU departments including the Development, Production Operations, and Project Management teams as well as the Drilling and Completions organization.Duration - this role will be covering approximately 6 months of extended leave.
