Summary: The Maintenance Support Material Specialist (Data Analyst) is responsible for managing and analyzing material data to facilitate obsolescence management in oil and gas facilities. This role requires proficiency in SAP PM and MM modules, report development, and collaboration with engineering teams to mitigate material obsolescence. The specialist will also evaluate parts for obsolescence, support engineering projects, and conduct data analysis to inform maintenance decisions. Overall, the position plays a crucial role in ensuring the reliability and efficiency of maintenance operations.
Key Responsibilities:
- Extract, organize, and upload material data using SAP PM and MM modules.
- Create standard templates and reporting formats as per Team Lead instructions.
- Develop, maintain, and analyze data-driven reports to support maintenance and engineering decisions.
- Provide expert SAP support for materials master, including material creation, change, deletion, and obsolescence workflows.
- Download stock item lists from SAP, including vendor details (e.g., Serial No., Model, Part No., Manufacturer).
- Link spare parts to functional locations and equipment through BOMs, reservations, and work orders.
- Classify and prioritize equipment and spares based on criticality, OEM dependency, and business impact.
- Coordinate with discipline engineers to review and validate material data.
- Evaluate parts for obsolescence using an impact matrix and categorize based on risk.
- Identify like-for-like replacements or upgrades without engineering changes. Recommend procurement based on priority.
- For items requiring engineering changes, initiate and lead eMOC processes, including feasibility studies and stakeholder coordination.
- Track and manage implementation of the Obsolescence Management Plan, from initiation through to installation.
- Update asset registers and material master records in SAP following changes.
- Participate in the evaluation of technical bids for new projects by analyzing obsolescence status of proposed equipment/spares.
- Support virtual obsolescence matrix creation for equipment in collaboration with discipline engineers.
- Trigger equipment disposal or decommissioning as needed and provide budget inputs.
- Conduct statistical analysis, identify trends, and generate insights from SAP and Meridium databases.
- Develop and report on KPIs related to reliability and obsolescence.
- Prepare exception and performance reports to support continuous improvement and risk mitigation.
- Work closely with Maintenance Support Engineers, RCM and Reliability Engineers, Maintenance, Operations, Engineering, and Supply departments.
- Maintain regular contact with vendors, OEMs, contractors, warehouse personnel, buyers, and SAP experts.
- Independently manage engineering-related tasks for onshore plants, terminal storage, and provide offshore support as needed.
Key Skills:
- Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering from a recognized institution.
- Minimum 10 years of relevant experience in oil & gas or petrochemical industries, covering engineering, plant construction, pre-commissioning, commissioning, and startup phases.
- Hands-on expertise in SAP PM and MM modules is mandatory.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office tools, especially Excel and Access; experience with Meridium is a plus.
- Strong technical reporting, analytical, and troubleshooting skills.
- Knowledge of industry safety standards and practices.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a multicultural and dynamic work environment.
