Summary: The Maintenance Officer is responsible for managing day-to-day issues related to Divisional Infrastructure & Safety, ensuring high standards of maintenance for core facilities, and overseeing building projects. The role includes line management of Operations Assistants, compliance with safety procedures, and providing emergency support. The position requires collaboration with various teams and stakeholders to maintain operational efficiency and safety standards. This is a contract role based in London for a duration of 6 months.
Key Responsibilities:
- Managing day-to-day problems relating to Divisional Infrastructure & Safety.
- Leading the core facilities team and ensuring high maintenance standards.
- Planning and overseeing building and improvement projects.
- Maintaining building security and issuing keys and passes.
- Dealing with emergencies such as floods and power failures.
- Assisting with manual handling of instruments and equipment.
- Liaising with Procurement and academic staff for equipment purchases.
- Ensuring compliance with safety procedures and conducting safety inductions.
- Managing laboratory moves and providing out-of-hours emergency cover.
- Carrying out additional duties as requested by the line manager.
